UCR

Does an agricultural exemption apply to UCR?

Updated September 1, 2026

This is one of the most common misunderstandings we hear. An agricultural exemption from certain FMCSA requirements doesn't automatically exempt you from UCR if you're crossing state lines.

Exemptions are program-specific. Being exempt from hours-of-service rules for certain agricultural hauls, for example, says nothing about whether UCR applies to your operation.

If someone told you your ag exemption covers UCR, it's worth confirming before you rely on it.

This is general orientation, not legal or regulatory advice. Requirements change and vary by operation — confirm specifics with the relevant agency or a qualified advisor before acting on them.
