What is the UCR fee for 2027?

By the DOT Compliance Partner team · April 13, 2026 · 3 min read

UCR fees are set annually by the UCR Plan based on your fleet size (number of power units). The fee tiers are published at ucr.gov each year when registration opens, typically in October for the following year.

The fleet-size brackets

The UCR fee structure uses several brackets — carriers with 0–2 power units pay the lowest tier, with fees increasing as fleet size grows. The exact dollar amounts are set by the UCR Plan for each registration year and can change year to year.

Where to check the current fees

The official fee schedule for the current registration year is posted at ucr.gov. That's the authoritative source — any number you see elsewhere may be outdated.

When registration opens

UCR registration for the following year typically opens in October. For example, registration for 2027 generally opens in fall 2026. You can register through the end of the year it applies to, but late registration may be subject to penalties depending on state enforcement.
